Booking a yacht in Miami: common worries, and why professionals matter
Fake listings, illegal charters, hidden fees, bad weather. The real risks of booking a yacht in Miami, and the questions that protect you.

Booking a yacht should feel exciting, not risky. Yet many guests come to us after a bad experience elsewhere: a boat that did not match the photos, a captain who never showed up, or a charter stopped by the Coast Guard. Here are the most common worries and how to avoid them.
"Will the boat be the one in the photos?"
Social media is full of yacht photos, and not all of them are real or current. Ask which exact yacht you are booking, its name and length, and ask for recent photos or a video. A professional operator will tell you the marina and the yacht before you pay.
"Is this charter even legal?"
This is the biggest risk in Miami, and most guests never think about it. The US Coast Guard actively enforces passenger-vessel rules in South Florida, and illegal charters can be stopped on the water, ending the day early. A legal charter has a licensed captain and a yacht operated within the rules for the number of guests on board.
Questions worth asking any operator:
- Is the captain licensed by the US Coast Guard?
- Is the yacht allowed to carry this number of guests?
- Is the charter insured?
- Will I receive written confirmation with the date, time, yacht and price?

"Will there be hidden fees?"
Ask what the price includes before you pay. With us, every rate includes a licensed captain and fuel; Florida sales tax and crew gratuity are added on top, and we say so upfront. Extras such as catering or special water toys are always agreed in advance.
"What if the weather turns?"
In Florida, weather changes fast. A professional captain watches the forecast and makes the final call for safety. Know the rules before you book: with us, if the captain cancels or cuts a charter short for safety, you can reschedule or receive a refund for the unused time, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. The details are in our cancellation policy.
"Will we be safe?"
A good crew briefs guests on board, carries life jackets for everyone, knows the depths and the sandbars, and stays sober and focused all day. The captain is responsible for everyone aboard and will choose a calmer anchorage or route when needed.

Why we work this way
Boatyx began with a single yacht and grew on referrals. We would rather turn down a booking than put guests on a boat we would not take our own family on. Every yacht in our selection is chosen for its condition and its captain, and one team stays with you from the first message to the last line ashore.
If you are comparing offers, send us the details. We will tell you honestly what to look for, even if you book elsewhere.
